Hull Young Carers Grant

The Hull Young Carers Wellbeing Grant is to support our city’s young carers wellbeing, this grant is for young people that have a prominent role in caring for someone they love and care for on a daily or regular basis.

The grant widens opportunities for young carers to explore their own interests and hobbies and improve their overall wellbeing. An application can be supported through our Hull Young Carers Project or it can be through any professional that is aware of the young person’s caring responsibilities.

A young carer can apply for a grant of £300 to support an existing interest, a new hobby or buy an item - this is provided through a digital platform called Virtual Wallet. Once approved, the grant funding is made available to the young carer through their Virtual Wallet account. It enables them to buy vouchers, items and activities from a range of local and national organisations.

How to apply

Please visit Hull City Council's Hull Young Carers page for more information on the application process.

What happens next?

Once the referral has been approved and sent to the Virtual Wallet Team, they will get to work to set the account up and apply the £300 credit to the account. This can then be spent within the marketplace. As you spend the grant, the balance will change to show you how much is left in your Virtual Wallet account.

In line with the terms and conditions of the grant, you will be asked to upload any receipts of items purchased from your Virtual Wallet account within 6 months of setting up your account. Details of how to do this will be sent to you by the Virtual Wallet team by e-mail.
