Our aim is to provide a service that offers a safe, comfortable environment with support and stimulation to help people we support maximise their potential physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity within an individual person-centred plan.
The people we support have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them.

Facilities
Kingsmead Lodge is a specialist adult care service providing twenty places for people with learning and/or physical differences aged 18 to 65 years. The single-storey development has two 10-bed services and each bedroom has an en-suite and fitted with a track hoist system. The rooms are situated around a quiet courtyard garden giving a tranquil setting. There are plenty of day areas – two lounges and two lounge/dining rooms along with a spacious activity place.
The service is situated near to a main road leading to Horsham and is convenient for all local services with a bus stop, church and public house nearby.

Care
Kingswood Lodge is registered to provide nursing and residential care. It is led by an experienced Home Manager and staffed with a qualified nurse 24 hours a day and a team of dedicated carers who are experienced and trained in supporting the needs of the people we support.
Catering
Our home cooked meals are prepared by our chef using fresh local produce and we ensure that we cater for a wide variety of specialist diets and individual dietary needs.
Therapy Input
Qualified speech and language therapist and physiotherapists are available to provide individual therapy sessions. Reflexology and aromatherapy are also available as part of a wide range of complementary therapies.
Activities
A full range of activities are available and transport is provided to that the people we support are able to use the considerable local facilities in Horsham and the surrounding areas. The activity unit is led by an experienced activities coordinator who devises and carries out personalised activity plans with those we support.
Training
All staff undertake an induction programme at our training academy when joining SHC.
In addition, a system of supervision and support for staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills.
Extensive in-house training is provided by the SHC training team to develop skills in dementia and QCF courses are undertaken in conjunction with local colleges. The Care Certificate is available to all new staff.
